If I had a dime for each time that someone messages me on Facebook and asked this question...I could stop freelancing and just have fun all day. The "how" part is what this blog is all about, but for now, lets discuss the "why."
I was pushed into the job market kicking and screaming. I had been raising my two children for many years, and had a husband that brought home the bacon. Things were great. I drank coffee, perused the internet, watched hundreds of episodes of Golden Girls and Roseanne, and played with this kids. Divorce would change all of that, and soon, the good times were over.
I did not go to college, and had no real life work experience as an adult. I took the first job that I was offered, which was a front desk position at a Best Western. I will not go into all of the jobs that were to follow over the course of the next six years. I was miserable at all of them, and spent my time daydreaming about working from home.
After dabbling in freelance writing, affiliate marketing, and other miscellaneous income methods online, I convinced myself that if I just had enough time, I could make it in the online freelancing world. In March of this year, I quit the job I hated, and started freelancing full time.
Fast forward to today. I'm still working from home, and I am getting by. I'm certainly not where I want to be, and am certainly not rich. The point to this blog will be to help those who have an independent spirit break away from the job that they hate. I cannot make any income promises, as the income you make will be determined by the amount of work you put in. I can only promise to tell you how I do it each day.
